Evaluation
The 2011 – 2012 basketball season is set to pose a challenge for the CBOA Evaluation committee. As we are all aware, the first and foremost responsibility for the CBOA is to have officials on the floor officiating games for those organizations we provide services for. With the number of games covered by the CBOA during the season this brings many of our qualified evaluators out of the stands and on to the floor actively working games.
Having this in mind and understanding that expert feedback is an important development tool for all members of the CBOA, this season the CBOA will be piloting a Video Evaluation process in an attempt to have as many CBOA members evaluated as possible. The way this process will work is as follows:
For those CBOA members that prefer the more traditional method of evaluation, this option will still remain available to you. Please understand that the number of traditional “body in stands” evaluations will most likely be limited based on availability of the qualified evaluators. As per CBOA policy, you will be charged the game fee for this evaluation to be paid to the evaluator.

- Upon notifying the Evaluation Chairman you wish to be evaluated via video, you will be provided a website address that you can upload your completed game film to.
• You as will be given the option of a full video evaluation or a partial evaluation concentrating on 2 of the following 5 criteria of your choice:
- Game management & control
◦ Communication & game awareness
◦ Mechanics & Signals
◦ Appearance, hustle & professionalism

- As the majority of us own a video camera, it is preferred you use your own video equipment.
- The CBOA currently owns 1 video camera and tripod that can be made available to be signed out and returned to an executive member as well.

- You, the CBOA member, will be responsible to find someone (i.e. family member, fellow official, student...) to film a game you are assigned to work.
- Tip: There is no expectation of any fancy camera work. A simple pan to capture as much of the action as possible is all that is required.

- Once your game film has been submitted (uploaded) for evaluation an evaluator will, as their time allows, review and provide their comments to you.
• You will be charged a full game fee for the full evaluation or a half game fee for the partial. This fee will be paid to the evaluator for their service to your development.
